【注意】表示用作衣料的“布”時(shí)，不可數(shù)；表示用作某種特殊用途的布(如桌布、臺(tái)布、揩布等)時(shí)，可數(shù)。

clothes n.(復(fù))衣服，服裝：

She wears everyday clothes to work. 她著便裝上班。

【注意】1.是“衣服”的統(tǒng)稱，指穿在身上的所有東西。2.是一個(gè)沒(méi)有單數(shù)形式的復(fù)數(shù)名詞，但不與數(shù)詞連用。

clothing n.[U](總稱)衣服，衣著：

They wear very little clothing. 他們衣服穿得很少。

He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. 他是一只披著羊皮的狼。

【注意】clothes與clothing：前者為復(fù)數(shù)名詞，后者為不可數(shù)名詞；前者較具體，后者比較抽象；

“一套衣服”是a suit of clothes，

“一件衣服”是a piece [an article] of clothing。

cloud n.[C,U]云(狀物)：

There are dark clouds in the sky. 天空烏云密布。

cloudy a.多云的，陰天的：

cloudy with outbreaks of rain陰天有陣雨。

clumsy a.笨拙的，不靈活的：

At 17, she was clumsy, shy and awkward.17歲時(shí)，她做事笨手笨腳，既害羞又不靈活。

coach n.教練：

a tennis coach網(wǎng)球教練。

coal n. [C,U]煤，煤塊：

Coal and oil are natural products. 煤和石油是天然物產(chǎn)。

【注意】通常不可數(shù)，但若表示正在燃燒中的煤塊，則可數(shù)。

coast n.[C]海岸，海濱：

There are many islands off the coast. 沿海有許多島嶼。

coat n.[C]外套，大衣；表層，涂層：

He hung his coat on the hook. 他把衣服掛在鉤子上。

cocoa n.可可粉；可可飲料。

coffee n. [U,C]咖啡：

I prefer tea to coffee. 我喜歡茶勝于咖啡。

【注意】1.通常不可數(shù)，但表示“(一杯)咖啡”時(shí)，可數(shù)：Three teas and two coffees, please.請(qǐng)來(lái)三杯茶和兩杯咖啡。

2. 不要從字面意義誤解以下說(shuō)法：

black coffee 純(清)咖啡

white coffee 牛奶咖啡
